Fall Field trips, ID Clinics, the Bridle Trails study and the Ben Woo Foray are postponed till next year due to the Covid19 safety concerns. We hope that you are all staying healthy and safe in this time. Your PSMS Board of Trustees For more information regarding public lands closures during this time, please use the links below: WTA State Parks Mountaineers For over fifty years, the Puget Sound Mycological Society (PSMS) has nurtured collaboration amongst its members for an understanding and appreciation of the wide diversity of mushroom species in the Pacific Northwest. We also depend on a diverse membership to support our mission to foster the understanding and appreciation of mycology as a hobby and a science. In recent months, as systematic inequality in U.S. society is revealed to a broader audience, it becomes clearer that inequality imposes barriers on marginalized groups to participation in a wide variety of activities. PSMS opposes all barriers that limit participation in mycology. PSMS and its board members support a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming organization where all people, especially those who are underrepresented in our organization and society at large, can enjoy mushrooms and all of the activities associated with them. We realize this will be an on-going conversation and are looking to our members for suggestions on ways to increase diversity, inclusivity, and welcoming. Thank you as we join together to make this long-overdue journey toward systemic equality! To all mushroom hunters and PSMS members, As you are experiencing, these are volatile and uncertain times. Due to concerns about the virus and group functions, we have cancelled not only the spring Banquet , and, sadly, all spring Field Trips , as well as public ID sessions (Monday evenings) and the Bridle Trails spring studies . These are not easy nor welcome decisions. Our April PSMS General Meeting on Tuesday April 14th will be at 6:30pm . We are happy to have Cornelia Cho, MD., present a talk on "Medicinal Mushrooms in Clinical Practice". Note that this is one hour earlier than our usual meeting time. This meeting will be a virtual general meeting , which will be able to be viewed on the Zoom application. We are now accepting reservations to this upcoming meeting . At this time, our meeting will be available to PSMS members only. Information regarding future PSMS events will be posted to our webpages as situations unfold.
